There are five main types of bathroom sinks that you can choose from for your bathroom. Each one is better suited to different types of bathrooms. You need to think about who will be using the bathroom, how big the bathroom is, and your decorating style to help you choose the appropriate sink. The five types are vanity sinks, pedestal sinks, vessel sinks, console sinks, and wall mounted sinks. A vanity sink is one that is installed into cabinetry. The most common types of installation for a vanity sink are drop in and under mount. A drop in vanity sink is one that fits into a hole cut into the counter top. The hole is slightly smaller than the rim around the top of the sink so that it sits comfortably on the counter top. This type of installation is best if the counter tops you are using do not have finished edges. The sink will hide the cut edges of the counter. The second type of installation can be utilized if you have marble or granite counter tops that have finished edges. The sink is mounted under the counters so you will see the sides of the counter where the hole has been cut. These sinks are most appropriate for larger bathroom where you will need storage. Most of the time there just isnt room for a cabinet in a small powder room.
Bathroom sinks or basins are a major part of our lives. The function is for our own personal hygiene, but after the functionality of your sink will come the design to fit your bathrooms decor. Bathroom sinks come in two distinct types. Then from these two types come many different styles, sizes, shapes and colors. Bathroom vanities are cabinets that will hold your bathroom sink. Bathroom vanities come with one door, two doors, or one or two doors with a row of drawers. The function of the bathroom vanity is to give you storage for your bathroom and keep that storage out of plain sight. The counter top for your bathroom vanity can be a standard counter with a hole for your bathroom sink, or a molded sink type counter top. Counter tops can be made of a lament, granite, marble, Corean, concrete, ceramic tile, or plastic. No matter what style the counter top the sink will hook up to the water and drain the same way. This will be with a mechanical pop-up or drain assembly, and water lines to the faucet.
Self Rimming Sinks fit into a hole that is cut into the counter top. The rim of the sink, along with a little silicone, form a seal between the sink rim and counter top. Self rimming sinks are often used when you want more counter space as you can make the counter as big as you need then cut the hole to drop the sink near the plumbing. Its nice to have a good selection of bathroom sinks because this isnt a one size fits all item. You want to make sure it fits the size of your bathroom first but you also want to make sure it has the look and feel you want to achieve.
